Performance Dates: July 25 @ 8pm; July 26 @ 2pm & 8pm; July 27 @ 2pm; July 31 @ 8pm; August 1 @ 8pm; August 2 @ 2pm & 8pm

Children's Chorus - ages 7+

5/18 Sun: Mass Meeting @ 7pm
5/19-21, Mon-Wed: Auditions kids @ 7-8:30, adults @ 8:30-10
5/22, Thu: Callbacks - only if necessary

All adults should prepare a song, bring piano music, and come prepared to move (comfortable shoes and clothing).

Children that are reading for a role should also prepare a song, bring piano music, and come prepared to move (comfortable shoes and clothing).

Children who are interested only in a chorus part should come prepared to dance, and to sing with the group (no prepared song necessary).

We will have an accompanist.

7-10pm at Copeland Auditorium (where auditions were held). Please bring $25
cash or check (made out to Dexter Community Players) for your required
production fee.

Regular rehearsals will begin Monday, March 24 at 7-10pm in Copeland
Auditorium.

02/23/08: Audition Notice: The Crucible

Arthur Miller's modern classic is a profoundly disturbing vision of human nature, steeped in themes of paranoia and persecution, jealousy and revenge. Set amidst the backdrop of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the play still speaks clearly to issues close to the heart of all human interactions today -- the desire to appear 'normal' to one's peers, the tendency to deny responsibility for one's own actions and their consequences, and to look outside oneself when tragedy befalls. The frightful ease with which concepts like 'honor' and 'truth' lose their meanings will serve as a reminder to us all to reject the status quo, and be brave enough to stand up for what each of us believes is right.

The Crucible has roles for 11 men (age 30's to 80's) and 11 women
(ages 10 yrs to 70's).

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please do NOT
memorize audition materials.

Mass Meeting: Sunday, March 9 @ 7pm. Attendance not required to audition.
Auditions: Sat, March 15 1-4pm
Sun March 16 1-4pm
Callbacks: Sun, March 16 6-9pm
Read-through: Wed, March 19 7-10pm
Regular rehearsal start Mon, March 24 7-10pm
Performances: May 9, 10, 11, 16, and two performances on the 17th.

The Mass Meeting will be held at the Dexter High School CPA, all others will be held at Copeland Auditorium.

What is Urinetown?

This is the question that haunts the downtrodden poor in a bleak dismal urban future where private bathrooms no longer exist, and the public pay toilets are controlled by a power-hungry corporate monopoly.

Gloomy and depressing you say? Try hilarious and entertaining! Urinetown (the Musical) is an enjoyable parody of some of musical theater’s finest works wrapped up in a seemingly implausible story.

Think the title is awful? So do the show’s narrators, as they guide you through the singing, dancing, love, rebellions, greed, and kidnappings, and introduce you to the compelling and amusing characters of the Dexter Community Players’ production of this uproarious Tony Award winning musical.

Director Jason Smith, who brought you DCP’s critically successful Sweeney Todd, returns with some of community theater’s finest, along with choreographer Stacey Smith. The cast includes Brendan Bachman as the heroic Bobby Strong, Thalia Schramm as the sweet Hope Cladwell, Edmond Reynolds as the diabolical Caldwell B. Cladwell, and Leo Babcock as the ever present Officer Lockstock. The comedic pairing of Jenn Smith and Jeff Steinhauer work to steal the show in what is sure to be the highlight of the fall season.

08/13/07: Urinetown Auditions

Auditions for Dexter Community Players’ production of Urinetown will be held:

Sunday, August 26th from 5-9pm
Monday, August 27th from 7-10pm
Callbacks on Tuesday, August 28th from 7-10pm

Please prepare 32 bars of a song and be prepared to dance as well. Readings and more singing will be done during callbacks.

Auditions will be at the Dexter High School Center for the Performing arts.
